A local's guide to Arcadia.
Camelback views, tree-lined streets, and some of Phoenix's best dining. Where I send friends, clients, and out-of-town guests for a perfect Arcadia day.
Arcadia is the neighborhood people fall in love with first and move to second. It's lush, walkable, and impossibly charming, with Camelback Mountain as the backdrop to nearly everything.
Tucked between Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arcadia trades the desert palette for citrus groves, flood-irrigated lawns, and ranch homes reimagined as modern farmhouses. It’s one of the few Valley neighborhoods where you can walk to dinner, and one of the reasons clients ask me about it by name.
Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or considering a move, here’s where I’d point you.
Morning
Start with coffee and a pastry at one of the local roasters along Indian School Road, then take an early walk or hike. The Camelback foothills are right there, and the light on the mountain before 8am is worth the alarm. If you’d rather ease in, the neighborhood’s garden nurseries and boutiques make for a slow, pretty morning.
Tip: weekend mornings fill up fast. Go early, or go mid-week.
Afternoon
Lunch on a shaded patio is the move. Arcadia’s dining scene is genuinely one of the best in the state, and the indoor-outdoor spots shine in spring and fall. Afterward, browse the design shops and home stores along the corridor; it’s where a lot of the neighborhood’s renovation inspiration comes from.
Evening
Sunset is Arcadia’s golden hour, literally. Grab a table for dinner as Camelback turns amber, then finish with a nightcap or dessert nearby, everything is close enough to stroll between. It’s the kind of easy, unhurried evening that makes people want to stay.
And if that feeling lingers? That’s usually when my phone rings.
